Over the past five years, Syfin and Academia have successfully structured and developed well over a thousand students and staff accommodation units for the University of Stellenbosch. This concept, registered and commonly known as Academia, provides market related and customized accommodation to students. Some of the salient aspects of the concept are:
- In general Syfin and Academia structure, design and operate the accommodation facility in partnership with University, in order to complement studying.
- Academia is based on tried and tested modules, which provides for single/ double rooms with study facilities and sharing options in terms of bathrooms, kitchens and living areas. These units could be located in a single, or up to a three-storey block, which eliminates the need for a lift.
Syfin recently secured a contract at the University of the Witwatersrand for the development of student accommodation on campus. This is currently in the planning phases and construction is possibly due in 2009.
